KAIPUU ON THE REEF, a boutique hotel located on the southern peninsula coastline of Quanzhou, is interior designed by designer Xie Ke. KAIPUU ON THE REEF is one of the Small Luxury Hotels of the WorldTM. "KAIPUU" originates from the Finnish word "kaukokaipuu," which denotes a strong yearning and intense desire to embrace unexplored lands, and advocates a new philosophy of living in the moment.
The hotel's lobby preserves the pristine visage of the reef stone, boasting a 270-degree panoramic view of the maritime horizon, nestled against the crescent beach, and offering seaside accommodations. 53 rooms and suites neighbor sea-gazing terraces; complemented by an overwater infinity pool, a state-of-the-art gymnasium, a cigar lounge and tearoom, an exquisite seafood and steakhouse, and a rooftop observatory ceremonial hall.
A new order has been re-established from the entrance, the designer has polished the steps into a posture that coexists and blends with the reef, stepping into it, there is a natural framing of the "sky and sea in one color." Spatial color, light and shadow, order have been rationally combed, the lobby has unveiled a chapter of restraint before release, with clean and tidy corridors featuring sequential columns, beige tones, and tranquil candlelight to shield noisy disturbances, complemented by ample blank space.
The primordial reef, elongated and preserved within the grand foyer, stands as a munificent offering from nature, shaping the predominant narrative of the ambiance. Vast monoliths of stone are meticulously layered, engaging in a dialogue with the opposing natural reef, as stone columns, refined stone textures, and coral formations orchestrate a renewed symmetry. Such a subdued approach accentuates the unadulterated essence of nature. Individuals seek sanctuary and seclusion here, harvesting the profound poetic allure beneath the colossal boulders.
